The Storyteller's Circle
Objective:
The goal of this game is to create a collaborative story by passing the Story Spindle around the group. Each person adds a part to the story, building on what the previous player has said, all while encouraging creativity and imagination.
How to play;
-
Gather your group:
You’ll need a group of at least 3 players. Sit in a circle so everyone can see each other and the spindle. -
Choose a starting storyteller:
Decide who will begin the story. This person will hold the Story Spindle to start. -
Start the story:
The first storyteller will begin by saying a sentence or two to kick off the tale. For example, "Once upon a time, in a forest far away, there lived a curious rabbit." -
Pass the spindle:
After the first storyteller has shared their part, they pass the Story Spindle to the next person in the circle. The next person adds their own sentence or idea, continuing the story. For example, “One day, the rabbit found a mysterious glowing stone in the woods.” -
Continue the story:
The Story Spindle continues to be passed around the circle, with each person contributing a new part to the story. The tale should evolve as each player adds their own creativity. -
End the story:
The game continues until everyone has had a chance to add to the story. Once everyone has contributed, the last storyteller can choose how to wrap up the tale, bringing it to a conclusion. For example, “And so, the rabbit used the glowing stone to find his way home, and he lived happily ever after.”
Tips for Fun:
-
Encourage wild and unexpected twists! The more imaginative the contributions, the more fun the story will be.
-
If you like, add a challenge element by setting a theme or specific words that must appear in the story.
